According to media reports, connector and sensor giant TE Connectivity (Tyco Electronics) recently announced that it has signed a final agreement with Schaffner, a Swiss electromagnetic solutions provider, and will acquire all publicly held shares of Schaffner at a price of 505 Swiss francs (528 euros) per share. Some registered stocks launched an all-cash public tender offer, with a total consideration of approximately 335 million euros.
Headquartered in Switzerland with subsidiaries around the world, Schaffner provides EMC filter solutions, harmonic filters, electromagnetic components and electromagnetic solutions. According to reports, the acquisition will add EMC filter products to TE's connectivity and sensing product portfolio for high-growth industrial and automotive applications.
"EMC filters represent an important component technology in many of our rapidly growing applications, such as motion control, robotics, industrial machinery, medical equipment and electric vehicles," said Vish Ananthan, senior vice president and general manager of TE's Industrial Business Unit. The product portfolio breadth and global customer coverage combined with Schaffner's product portfolio, engineering expertise and technology manufacturing capabilities will enhance our value proposition to our customers."
